Interested in working with a progressive STEM program this summer?
The program runs from July 5 - August 11 from 9am - 2pm Mon -Thus (Teachers duty time is 8:30am - 2:30pm). Program sites are DuVal HS, Thomas Johnson MS, Thomas Claggett ES, Walker Mill MS, Gaywood ES, and Reid Temple Church.
PROGRAM TENENTS: This is not summer school! Parents and students select this program, it is not mandatory. As such, all staff must be mindful that the students are the end customers, and staff performance evaluations include student and observations input. (Students and parents evaluate the program as well). Additionally, students' academic progress is monitored daily to ensure that mathematics skills are learned in a challenging, yet engaging manner. Weekly collaborative planning helps to ensure that instructional strategies are meeting your students' needs. Parent/community volunteers assist in the classroom with observational monitoring tools and small group instruction -- all designed to ensure that students meet or exceed preset academic milestones.
PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS:
If you have at least 3 years experience, are certified to teacher mathematics for grades 5 - 12, are creative, and interested in participating in a rigorous, yet rewarding summer opportunity, you are invited to apply.
Instructors are provided with hands-on STEM professional development training. High performing teachers may be invited to continue with the program throughout the school year via Saturday booster sessions, held once per month (subject to enrollment during the school year).
